Socialist Resistance

An archive of socialistresistance.org, 2002–2022

From the newspaper

2,062 articles from the printed paper, 2002–2008

Before it was a magazine, and long before most of this website, Socialist Resistance was a tabloid newspaper. It ran from the pilot issue of October 2002 to issue 49, after which the numbering carried straight on into the magazine at issue 50. Almost none of it was ever online: the website archive begins in late 2006 and fills out only from 2008, so what follows is, for practical purposes, the whole paper.

It was recovered by scanning 52 issues and reading them with OCR — the PDFs held no text at all beforehand. A newspaper prints no contents page, so there was no list of titles to cut it up by; the articles were found instead from the size of their headlines against the body type around them. The text is OCR and reads like it. It is offered so the writing can be searched and found, not as a clean edition.
