*STOp. -EOR OL DS tate a collective appropriation of the means of production and the common goods of humanity - an appropriation that is attentive to the preservation of ecological equilibria.
This collective appropriation is certainly not a sufficient condition for the preservation of the environment, but it is one of the necessary conditions for an ecologically supportable democratic regime of planning.
The fundamental choice of what sort of society can no longer be left either to the market nor to authoritarian regimes.
We need to control
• which energy options should be pursued or abandoned
• which organization of
RE transport and industry should be supported
• what measures to take to repair the damage caused by capitalism
what basic needs society should collectively take responsibility for
Starting from such general principles, an ecological emergency programme should combat the idea that productivism assures development, growth and the fulfillment of humanity.
Also it must be demonstrated that the growth of commodity production is radically opposed to the necessary satisfaction of the basic needs of the human species. If another world is possible, then another mode of production and of living is necessary.
