This is scanned newsprint, not web text. The original PDFs carried no text layer at all, so every word here was read off the page by OCR. Expect dropped opening letters, run-together words and wrong characters. There was no contents page to cut the paper up by, so the articles were found from the size of their headlines: a headline may carry its kicker, and where an article ran beside a boxed panel a few lines of the neighbour can appear. The scanned issue is the authority; this text is here so the words can be found at all.

Wing visa,

The whole thrust of both parties' political direction is to make it clear that they will reduce immigration and will use any necessary means to do so. Labour's principal criticism of recent Tory proposals was that they had not said how they would pay for additional immigration officers.

Both the major parties are borrowing heavily from Howard's government in Australia but some of the ideas have been borrowed from UKIP statements from several months ago. The question to ask is "why is this contrying to get into the country.

These are the two issues which unite the British right from the Tories to the BNP While most people find it hard to remain awake during

discussion about the European Union xenophobia provokes an immediate virulent reaction. There is a long history of racism in the British middle and working classes which owes much to rather than permanent protection. The developing world will lose many of its skilled workers to help Blair's Britain compensate for years of neo-liberal under-investment in education and training.

Those who are categorised as "unskilled" workers will be obliged to live a clandestine existence working on building sites, farms and in hotels to unemployment benefit and they are told that their employer is responsible for their health and safety at work. Given that English born workers are frequently dismissed from building sites for raising safety concerns what chance does a builder from Slovenia have?

Britain now has a convenient source of cheap labour. As the European Union's the focus of the left's demands on this issue.

The second is that Respect, which was the only party in last year's elections to speak up for refugees and asylum seekers, has to be the breakwater against this wave of racism and xenophobia.

In conjunction with local unions Respect can help reinvigorate the anti-racism of the trade union movement.
