M igrants in the UK who fall into the
hands of the Home Office and its notorious detention regime face ever-worsening conditions. Visitors are regularly getting reports from detainees of violence, either in detention or during attempts at deportation; violence which goes largely unrecorded by the police.
In a reported case earlier this year a man was beaten, sustaining serious injuries to his head and body, whilst being taken to a plane. •.. His pregnant wife was kicked in the stomach. The airline refused to fly them and an ambulance was called. The man went back to detention. The only report filed, according to the police, was by the Immigration Service, which complained of violence by the couple.
