The Tamil diaspora in Europe is to charter a ship and set sail from London to the war zone in Sri Lanka. Tamil people in Vanni are facing an ever worsening plight for their very existence. The Tamil diaspora in Europe is preparing to charter a ship, load urgently needed goods and set sail from London to Vanni on a Mercy Mission.
Details posted at the coordinating committee’s website vannimission.org states that the ship with doctors, celebrities & media on board is expected to set sail on 26 March 2009 to reach international waters near shores of Vanni, north of Sri Lanka on 14 April 2009.

Very good. Tamil People don't need the treatment of the Indian Army Doctors who are sitting at Pullmodai. They are working for Indian Government for salaries. We should send them back.
Let our doctors station at Vanni. They only can give their heart to their brethren.

Sri Lanka has ruled out allowing international observers into the conflict zone in the northeast of the country, where government troops are fighting Tamil Tiger rebels. The European Union is in dialogue with the government, but the country's north remains closed to independent assessment. The United Nations says it suspects war crimes are being committed in the conflict against the Tamil rebels.

It is no doubt a good venture. But it has practical difficulties
a) First of all they need permission from Sri Lankan Government.
b) Port of destination is Colombo or Trincomalee- obvious reasons.
c) Sri Lanka had already imposed press sensorship. Will they allow
media personnel to accompany.
d) If they reached succesfully, there are possibilities that the
ship will be either bombed or shelled and as usual,blame the
LTTE.( International community will be ready to condemn LTTE.)
e) Ther is no guarantee that their staff will be allowed to perform
the functions freely.( They may be arrested for helping LTTE.)
Evidently we need political freedom even to help our own
people.!!!!!

The Sinhala government with the aid of boot licking congress Indians like Sithamparam and bigamist Karunanithi will try to bomb this ship. The malayalees have taken over the Indian government. It is a pity. We have to be careful of losing our rresources like doctors and other valuable professionals.
Instead we should increase diplomatic efforts by employing Prof Boyle of US to work as our roving ambassador to the 140 countries that signed the genocide convention and ask them to create Eelam. At least an Eelam government in exile. Then we can negotiate with governments of all countries.

There is no need to charter any ship. The UN and ICRC already have a service that is working to an existing protocol. Hand over the goods to UN and ICRC. The volunteer workers can help when the civilians arrive on side of the army. UN claims civilians are shot and killed by LTTE when they flee. Help is needed here.

Sadly, the reality is that almost no aid is being allowed in by land. If aid comes only with the Sri Lankan army, then no aid will go to areas that the army does not occupy. Where has the UN said that its staff have been killed by the LTTE? Can you provide a reference for that?
