The Ford factory at Blanquefort (near Bordeaux, France ), which employs 3,500 workers, has been threatened with closure since 2000. The CGT union has led the campaign against closure with the consequent loss of 10,000 jobs, with demonstrations, strikes, and the invasion of the motor show in Paris by 600 workers. On 1 May 2009 the plant was taken over by HZ, a German holding company, with the promise that all jobs are safe. But Ford still has a presence on the board. Is it a victory or a trick by management?
