The council by-election in Mile End East takes place on 20th November. The by-election was caused by the resignation of Labour councillor Rupert Bawden, widely rumoured to be disillusioned with the opportunism of the Labour Party locally. Mile End East ward is a crucial swing ward in the forthcoming general election when George Galloway will be trying to unseat Jim Fitzpatrick in the constituency of Poplar and Limehouse.
Socialist Resistance is encouraging all its supporters in London to help with the campaign.
