Defend human rights in Honduras! - statement by the Emergency Committee Against the Coup in Honduras

A deal was reached last week in Honduras that should see the return of President Zelaya to office. But so far this has not been implemented. There are already many reports that this will be delayed by those opposed to the return of Zelaya, including in the Supreme Court and Congress, which both have to approve the deal.
President Manuel Zelaya has warned about a possible "manipulation" by the coup government after signing the agreement that could return him to power and end the crisis in his country. "There may be manipulation, so we must remain vigilant until compliance has been achieved," he said in a telephone contact with the channel Telesur, adding that "possibly some members are trying to impede the drive to complete this agreement."
We need to keep up the pressure to ensure the return of the elected President. Please join us on Wednesday!

RESPECT HONDURAS! RESPECT DEMOCRACY! Down with British Imperialism!!!
The agreement signed by Manuel Zelaya says that it is entirely up to the national parliament to decide if he is to be reinstated or not. The fact that he does not want to accept a negative decision just shows that he is not a democrat at hart. But that is no excuse for British socialists to support him.
Furthermore, I find it laughable to demonstrate outside the US embassy. Why not the Chinese? Or North Korea? Or Zimbabwe? If you want to put pressure on the MPs of Honduras, demonstrate outside the Congress of Honduras!

defend human rights? you mean cause as much problems for ordinary hondurans as possible? WAKE UP, Zelaya stole YOUR money as much as mine and if you can´t see this then you are truly blind. whether it was state money or taking cuts from drug running operations. and if you still think there was a coup, then you must be iliterate too because you cant read our constitution, go on, read it!! our country will be a better place without zelaya and his band of corruptos! viva honduras

Andres you must be bananas - Imperialism continues to steal ordinary Hondurans money - its not Zelaya to blame for the poverty of Honduras. The coup has been isolated and has had to make concessions - however its clear every effort will be made by your heroes to rig elections in November against Zelaya. If your golpistas are interested in human rights why did they close down radio stations, attack demos, impose curfews and lock up ordinary Hondurans?
